Ryan is a mover and shaker and . . . well he moves a lot! While toys (like this great one from Chris and Elaine) are interesting for a wee while Ryan is far more interested in things from 'the real world!' He likes to go for things that you're holding/using like a pen, book or the laptop. Here are a few photos to go with my stories.
It's starting to get a bit chilly here and we have a gas fire place to help keep things nice and toasty. Usually it's only on after Ryan is in bed, but this day was particularly chilly and we had it on earlier. It was interesting to see Ryan's response to it: he just stared at it from about 2 feet away. He wouldn't get any closer (probably because he could feel the heat) and then looked back and forth from the fire to Chris a few times.
Note the jersey Ryan is wearing, a special gift from our friends Ian and Lisa. Ryan has another one in a larger size from Grandpa and Nana so he's all set for the next couple of seasons!!
Here's a new thing: doors! Wow, they are amazing: you can close them, open them, get stuck in them, bang your head on them, lose mommy/daddy behind them . . .That's right, Ryan has discovered doors. The first door he started to play with is the one between the kitchen and living room. It was hilarious to watch him open and close it, open and close it and each time it wouldn't open as far because he was having to move forward to re-open it until finally he couldn't open it all and was stuck on the opposite side of the door to mommy and daddy - not so fun for him anymore, but we rescued him and his fascination with doors has continued.
Today he even managed to use one properly, he was playing with the one in our bedroom and Chris was out in the hallway and called for him - he actually managed to open the door wide enough (which isn't easy when you're lying on your tummy in front of the door!) and manouver his way around and out the door. I say manoever because it did take some contortion of his small body to get around it! What a clever boy we have.
A favourite pasttime for a while now is getting to the edge of things (mostly our bed) and hanging over the edge. Here he's doing it with the couch, hanging over the edge and scratching the material. Ryan loves to scratch things, the attraction is a combination of the feel and sound . . . we think.
Finally, what is better than crawling under things? Chairs, tables, the bed - all so fascinating, you never know what you might find! For instance today there was this nice little piece of paper under mommy and daddy's bed and boy did it taste good - it also stuck really well to the roof of the mouth making it hard for mommy to dig it out - boy does she need to do some cleaning up!The danger of this type of exploration though is the head banging. This morning Ryan must of hit his head four or five times in the line of duty. He didn't seem to mind so we didn't think much of it either, until, a couple of hours later when we were in town I noticed that his entire forhead was red - he looked battered, the poor wee soul.
