October Cont'd: First Halloween

The fourth and final installment of the October series! This segment includes Ryan's first Halloween and what I'll call getting ready for winter.

On Fridays Ryan and I go to a Parent and Toddlers group at our church. It's really great with all kinds of toys and activities for the wee ones to keep occupied as well as tea and biscuits for the adults.
The Friday before Halloween we had a dress-up day and most of the kids were in costumes. Ryan went as Nessie (or a dragon, or a dinosaur depending on your iterpretation but we prefer Nessie!) He was absolutely adorable, don't you think?

On the 31st we took Ryan 'guising' as it is called here though we didn't find that out 'till our last stop! The other very cool thing here is that kids have to do something to earn their treat - tell a joke, sing a song etc. Not all do that anymore but apparently most still do which I think is very cool! We went around to 7 houses, all good friends, and it took us just under 2 hours!! At each place we took a picture of Ryan with the family, here is Ryan with Chris and Elaine. Most of the other photos have kids in it so I should parental permission before posting them.

Here's a miscellaneous photo taken the 28th of Oct. Ryan is standing and just peering over the edge of the bed to look at me!! A few minutes later he was trying to get back down to the floor and was holding on for dear life to the blanket with one hand and reaching the other hand for the floor, Chris helped him down and I was too slow to get in on camera!

The chilly weather is setting in and with it means finding the winter clothes. We tried putting Ryan into the moose suit from Toronto that was big on him last March and ended up having to pour him into it has Chris so eloquently put it! So this was officially the final time Ryan wore his Canadian moose suit.
You can also see an amazing handknit toque that our friends Sarah and Paul brought us from Newfoundland. There are matching mitts to go with it and it all fits perfect. I love the chin strap!

We have another special Canadian toque from Grandma and Grandpa, isn't it cute?

Aside: Just in case you're wondering Sarah's parents are called Grandma and Grandpa, Chris' mom is Grandmere, and Chris' dad and Linda are Grandpa and Nana.
